Description:
Sustainable development strategies are being adopted by governments and
forward-thinking companies around the world. Their aim is to ensure that our children
have the same opportunities for growth and development that we currently enjoy.
Construction must form a major part of any sustainable development strategy since we all rely on the outputs of construction for our homes, workplaces, transport infrastructure, schools, hospitals and utilities. Globally the construction industry consumes vast amounts of non-renewable resources and generates significant volumes of waste. the challenge is to construct cost effective, efficient and user-friendly buildings but to do so more sustainably.
This conference, which builds upon the success of the ?Steel in Green Building Construction Conference? in Orlando in 1998, will focus on raising awareness about sustainable construction and its business benefits. Delegates will learn how construction is becoming more sustainable and explore future opportunities for sustainable construction projects. International case studies of prestigious projects will demonstrate how innovative and cost effective construction solutions are contributing to more sustainable development.
The conference will bring together international experts from the construction sector with the objective of sharing experiences and finding ways to implement creative and sustainable solutions in construction projects. Suggested paper topics include (but are not limited to)
The business benefits of sustainable construction; Marketing sustainability; Sustainable construction policy and regulation (including relevant code and standard development, integrated product policy and environmental product declarations); Economic and social aspects of sustainable steel construction Innovative design demonstrating steel?s contribution to sustainable development (Innovative, international case studies of sustainable steel buildings are particularly encouraged); Renovation, reuse and recycling of steel construction products; Sustainable construction assessment methods; Steel production and products; Sustainable urban development; The future of steel construction.
