orts & Marinas 2002 is the third in this international series of successful conferences, which aim to examine the rapid developments that are taking place in the management, operation, design and building of ports, marinas and other maritime works. To remain competitive it is essential for industry to incorporate new technology into these areas.

The conference will provide a forum for presenting and analysing research and industrial activities developed by private and public enterprises and institutions. Emphasis will be placed on new areas of research and advanced topics.

The meeting will cover a range of topics relevant to the field, including: port and marine management; ship and port operations; multimode transportation; environmental issues; financial and legal aspects; multi-use of ports and marinas; information systems; multimedia and other advanced training techniques; systems of loading and unloading; engineering technologies; man machine interfaces; marine engineering works; maintenance problems and the design and construction of marinas.
