Description:
The central theme of this conference is the inter-disciplinary investigation of past geological and environmental catastrophes, and their impact on our society. This conference will involve not only the Quaternary community but also biologists, archaeologists, historians and economists.

The main themes are:

Geological catastrophes and their impact on society e.g. megalandslides, earthquakes, tsunami, fires, volcanic eruptions

Environmental causes of civilisation collapse

Biological impacts on societies: extinctions, epidemies, plague, haemorrhagic fever

Climatological impacts on society, e.g. historical droughts
