Chennai, India

Mathematics

Host: Institute of Mathematical Sciences

Organizers: V.Balaji (CMI), D.S.Nagaraj (IMSc.), K.Paranjape (IMSc.) , P.Sankaran, (IMSc.).

Description:
The conference, which is twelfth in a series of topology conferences conducted in India will be held in Institute of Mathematical Sciences, Chennai. The first week of the conference will be mainly instructional in nature. In the second week more advanced level talks will be given. A few talks on recent research developments in the theme of the conference are also envisaged.

Aim: The conference aims at creating awareness among young researchers and recent entrants to the subject the rich interaction between topology and group theory in general, and, in particular to bring forth the efficacy of topological and geometrical methods in understanding certain aspects of group theory. It is envisaged that the conference would generate interest in the exciting area of geometric group theory among the participants and would sufficiently motivate them to take up research in the area of geometric group theory.
